Langer Industrial Service is a family-owned scrap metal recycling company with yards in Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Hays and Colby, Kansas; and Rapid City, South Dakota. This policy explains what information we collect from customers, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Contact information — name, business name, mobile or landline phone number, and email address, when you give it to us.
- Transaction records — material delivered, weights, grades, and payment records, as required to operate our business and meet state scrap metal reporting requirements.
- Identification — where state law requires us to record identification for scrap transactions.
We collect this information directly from you, in person at our yards or by phone. We do not buy customer lists from third parties.
How we use your information
- To buy and sell scrap metal with you and pay you for material
- To send you our current buying prices, if you have asked to receive them
- To contact you about loads, pickups, and transportation
- To meet legal, tax, and state reporting obligations
Mobile phone numbers and text messages
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories of information exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
If you opt in to our price update texts, we use your mobile number only to send you those messages. We keep a record of when you gave consent and which employee took it.
We use a messaging provider to deliver these texts on our behalf. That provider processes your number solely to deliver our messages and is not permitted to use it for any other purpose.

Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us operate, such as our messaging provider and payment processors, and only as needed to provide that service
- Law enforcement and government agencies, where required by scrap metal reporting laws or valid legal process
How long we keep it
Transaction and identification records are kept for the period required by applicable state and federal law. Contact information and text message consent records are kept while you remain a customer, and for a reasonable period afterward so we can answer questions about consent if they arise.
How we protect it
We limit access to customer information to employees who need it to do their jobs, and we take reasonable measures to protect the systems where it is stored. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
- Ask us what contact information we hold for you
- Ask us to correct it if it is wrong
- Stop text messages by replying STOP or telling any employee
- Ask us to remove your contact information, subject to records we are required by law to keep

Our services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
